⚡ Optimize Boggle String Generation Array Allocations#29
Conversation
Optimized the possible strings generation for the Boggle board by introducing a fast path for simple appending and using pre-allocated arrays for option splits to reduce garbage collection pressure. Co-authored-by: lemononmars <26631189+lemononmars@users.noreply.github.com>

💡 What: Optimized the
getPossibleStringslogic in the Boggle puzzle component. When iterating through a path of letters to generate possible strings, it now avoids unnecessary array splits and recreation using.push(). Instead, it introduces a "fast path" that appends characters in-place to strings in the array. For the "slow path" (when a cell has multiple letter options likeุ/ู), it usesnew Array(size)to pre-allocate exact dimensions, indexing into them natively.🎯 Why: The previous logic recursively created new arrays (
nextResults) inside nested loops via string concatenation and pushed to them repeatedly (nextResults.push(res + opt)). This pattern triggers significant array reallocation and churns short-lived strings, leading to high garbage collection pressure and CPU slowdowns when a player drags across many tiles on the board.📊 Measured Improvement:
