What This Is About

Boris Cherny started Claude Code in September 2024 as a side project at Anthropic. Since the public launch on February 24, 2025, he has regularly shared tips, workflows, and best practices — on X/Twitter, in podcasts (Latent Space, Lenny's Podcast, AI & I, Pragmatic Engineer), at conferences (AI Engineer World's Fair), and on the Anthropic Engineering Blog.

This repo collects those tips in one place, classifies them by difficulty and theme, and keeps them current through automated X scans.

Current: 143 tips across 21 themes, documented over 14 months.

TL;DR — Boris' Setup in Three Sentences

  1. Verification is the #1 rule: "Give Claude a way to verify its work — it will 2–3x the quality." If you take away only one thing, make it this.
  2. Parallelism is the biggest lever: 5 Claudes in terminal tabs + 5–10 web sessions + mobile + worktrees. "I have dozens of Claudes running at all times."
  3. Plan Mode → Auto-Accept: Shift+Tab twice, iterate the plan with Claude, then let it run. A good plan one-shots the implementation almost every time.

How This Repo Stays Current

A Claude.ai Routine scans @bcherny on X and secondary sources (Threads.net, Anthropic Blog, Threadreader mirrors) 2–3x daily for new tips. When new ones are found:

  1. Tip is inserted into TIPS.md (correct theme section, new ID)
  2. CHANGELOG.md is updated
  3. index.html is synced via /regenerate-html slash command
  4. IMPLEMENTATION-GUIDE.md is updated if the tip is actionable
  5. Commit + push to GitHub via GitHub Connector

Setup guide: routines/setup.md Routine prompts: routines/daily-scan.md and routines/weekly-verify.md

Caveats

  • Plan-tier gating: Many features (Auto Mode, 1M context) are Max/Team/Enterprise only. Test, don't assume.
  • Directional numbers: "4% of all GitHub commits", "200% engineering productivity" are Boris' own claims from podcasts, not independently audited.
  • Secondary sources: Tips attributed to Thariq, Cat Wu, Erik Schluntz, and other Claude Code team members are included only when Boris retweeted/endorsed them.
  • No content in this repo comes from private or leaked sources. Everything from public X, podcasts, Anthropic Blog, or Threads.net mirrors.
  • Ultrathink semantics changed between CC v1 and v2 — see TIPS.md for details.
