Hi! I've been, for the most part, a self-taught developer and a high school student. Right now, I'm mostly focused on cybersecurity work, but in the past I've been heavily involved with web dev, Discord bots, and other various projects.
Over the past 7 years on GitHub, I've been showcasing my past projects and contributing to open source. I usually work in TypeScript or Java; you can find some of my projects below.
I live in Virginia, United States right now for school, but I've also lived in Sydney, Australia and Shanghai, China for a while. You can mostly find me online on Discord in servers like CyberStudents and discord.js. Feel free to reach out!
If you want to learn more about what I do, check out my website.
My projects
Around 2019, I started my (real) development journey when I got interested in developing Discord bots, which can be turned into a powerful yet simple interface to develop apps for many users.
The most notable bot I developed was Reindeer, which focused on moderation/security and allowed Discord communities to easily handle reports from members. While development has mostly been paused, it is still running today and is used in over 600 communities and is protecting over 1.2 million users online.
After this, I dived into web dev with React/Next.js and Tailwind CSS a lot more and overhauled my website. Though, my main project nowadays is the website for CyberStudents, which features a full player and admin interface for capture-the-flag (CTF) cybersecurity competitions, as well as many (beautifully and non-AI-designed) marketing pages.
With cybersecurity and the CyberStudents community I co- and re-founded, I've made many cybersecurity puzzles/challenges that have overlap with web development and security. Additionally, CyberStudents has hosted a month-long CTF competition called Advent of CTF offering many prizes and harder challenges.
I fully 💙 open source and try to make all my development contributions public, but unfortunately I can't showcase all of my contributions here on GitHub. For example, I've also been working on creating Python automation code with ArduPilot pymavlink for a custom UAV (drone) as an academic team. I've also used Python for machine learning and mathematical modeling in various competitions.
Other than all that, here are some of the other notable projects that I made or contributed to, but you can see more in the repositories tab.
- My Advent of Code write-ups: code, thoughts, and walkthroughs on Advent of Code puzzles
- CyberStudents CTF Discord bot: a Discord bot to manage CTF challenges in the CyberStudents server
- Fortalice SMP: a Minecraft server with custom plugins and membership system
- Tristan SMP: website for the Tristan SMP Minecraft server with applications and a marketplace
- Gemtype: a prototype multiplayer typing test game wbesite using websockets
- Athena but better: web-based chatbot using OpenAI GPT-3 made before ChatGPT's release
- Various small utility npm packages like quickpostgres
- I've also contributed to the open source discord.js library and documentation while I was working on Discord bots
I also want to briefly note that a majority of these projects were made before the advent of generative AI for coding! With that in mind, I'm also excited to see how these new tools can be used responsibly and safely now.
Thanks for checking out my GitHub profile!
