This PR has been inactive for long enough to be automatically marked as stale. This means it is at risk of being auto closed in ~ 7 days, please address any outstanding review items and ensure your PR is finished, if these are all true and you are auto-staled anyway, you need to actively ask maintainers if your PR will be merged. Once you have done any of the previous actions then you should request a maintainer remove the stale label on your PR, to reset the stale timer. If you feel no maintainer will respond in that time, you may wish to close this PR youself, while you seek maintainer comment, as you will then be able to reopen the PR yourself |

@carda-sometimesknownas-paxilmaniac Just a few things I noticed from having test-ran a game
Code-wise is fine but gameplay wise there could be a bit of QoL. Only the bolded one is crucial imho:
- Repair, Armor Class, Evasion and Damage mechanics are not explained anywhere, nor can you see ship's specific armor classes or attack rolls & damage rolls. In a tabletop game these are kind-of important things to know even if these are handled automatically.
- The game doesn't specify you have to link your projectors to the machine which had me confused for a few minutes, especially since the base station implies it happens automatically. Should probably red-text in the projectors?
- The rules are relatively straightforward but there's a few oddities. You can hammer a ship like crazy, but it doesn't actually die-die until end of the phase which feels like it should have a terminal degree of damage where it blows up anyway. I suppose this is with the repair mechanic?
- The pieces do not spawn snapped to the grind with the projector but snap into them after moving which sometimes led to movement that I was expecting to go further.
- The punch cooler paper cans can be taken outside of the holodeck but this is such a petty little nitpick.
- Zero gravity makes pieces float all the way to the end of the board which I think is a feature but its very funny that holograms are affected by gravity
- In general just a few copies of a quick reference card would be nice especially on how damage works (which is currently unexplained and not as straightforward as the rest); my experience with boardgames is that invested players like to read the rules a bit whilst waiting their turn. Bit like this, doesn't need to be the rules read-out but a quick overview of the essentials.

About The Pull Request
The long abandoned and hardly-working wargame system has finally had that rework I keep saying I'm going to make.
What's different?
No more book - No more moderator. The game now runs itself, handling calculations such as rolling for attacks, damage, and so on automatically. The game also handles other factors such as turn order and team composition.
This means that ships actually come with varying sets of weapons and stats, as opposed to just being flat holograms with nothing else to them like before. Terrain like asteroids and space dust provide cover to ships near them, smaller ships can hide behind other ships for a bonus to armor, and more.
I could describe more, but a majority of the game can be figured out simply through ingame means, why not try it out for yourself at the brand new wargames holodeck?
Why It's Good For The Game
The old wargame system sucked since it needed you to read through two poorly formatted books that you can't even access anymore. The new one is much easier to pick and go with, lessening the requirement on teaching every single player the whole of the two books and then keeping track of 100 variables as a moderator.
Changelog
🆑
qol: The wargame holograph system, one of our very first features, has finally had a massive overhaul. This makes much of the systems in the game automated, rather than requiring a third player to simply be the game master.
