🚀 Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+
• Python 3.11+
• MongoDB
• YouTube Data API Key
• Anthropic API Key (or Emergent LLM Key)

Installation

1. Clone the repository

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/chiron.git
   cd chiron

2. Setup Backend

   cd backend
   python -m venv venv
   source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate
   pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Configure Environment Variables

   Create backend/.env:

   MONGO_URL=mongodb://localhost:27017
   DB_NAME=chiron
   EMERGENT_LLM_KEY=your_api_key_here
   YOUTUBE_API_KEY=your_youtube_api_key

   Create frontend/.env:

   REACT_APP_BACKEND_URL=http://localhost:8001

4. Setup Frontend

   cd frontend
   yarn install

5. Start the Application

   Terminal 1 (Backend):

   cd backend
   uvicorn server:app --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8001 --reload

   Terminal 2 (Frontend):

   cd frontend
   yarn start

6. Open in Browser

   http://localhost:3000

🎯 How It Works

1. User enters a topic - e.g., "Pointers in C++" or "Machine Learning basics"
2. AI generates course structure - Claude creates lessons, content, and quiz questions
3. YouTube videos are matched - Relevant educational videos are automatically found
4. Course is saved - User can access their course anytime
5. Progress is tracked - Lesson completion and quiz scores are saved
