Crypto Forensics Report: $1.9M Smart Contract Exploit (Aztec Bridge Campaign)

Incident Date: June 17, 2026
Analyst: [Aimen Rizouk / AML-Solana]
Asset Impacted: Ethereum (ETH)
Total Value Locked (TVL) Lost: 1,158 ETH (~$1,911,614.82 USD)

1. Executive Summary

On June 17, 2026, an attacker executed a highly targeted smart contract exploit against the Aztec Private Rollup Bridge contract. By exploiting a logic-binding flaw within the escapeHatch() function, the threat actor successfully drained 1,158.00 ETH from the source pool.

Following the exploit, the actor deployed a complex, multi-branch layering and obfuscation strategy utilizing peeling chains, cross-chain bridges, and zero-knowledge privacy protocols (Tornado Cash) to obscure the trail. This report provides an end-to-end on-chain forensic reconstruction of the stolen assets.

2. Attack Vector & Genesis Funding

The attacker utilized a clean funding pipeline to activate their exploit interface, avoiding direct links to a personal profile.

3. Capital Layering & Fragmentation (Phase 4)

Immediately following the exploit, the capital was split into two distinct operational branches to frustrate manual on-chain tracing.

Branch A: High-Velocity Transit Line

  • Transit Node Address: 0x15930A0fEF3421F48c6553b5691682CC1b22EDb3
  • Consolidation Outflow TxID: 0xf76ff4962c5b37f7cd1a7681a9e56194c1991f538fdc2b09829094525a071c96
  • Execution: 99.99% of the ingress liquidity was swept immediately in a single transaction to a third-generation Externally Owned Account (EOA) to maintain speed.

Branch B: Delayed Peel Strategy

  • Transit Node B Address: 0x33d6A0D9BC210E823e043d604179cd844eb467df
  • Aggregation Destination: 0x9ED8E94A2d296bf0Be71EB3424Dc67347acce4F8
  • Execution: Branch B utilized temporal fracturing, splitting the money across a primary sweep (0xc0aebbad...) and a secondary micro-peel (0xda26647d...).
  • Branch B End-State: The tracking vector terminates at Tornado Cash's 10-ETH fixed pool (TxID: 0x46d3c7ef...). The trail for this branch is officially cold with 0.09712 ETH left as static dust in the EOA.

4. The Master Liquidity Nexus & Siphon Tracks

While Branch B was mixed, the remainder of Branch A and the primary stolen funds reconverged at a massive master clearing vault.

  • Master Nexus Vault Address: 0x69923e5264b6E1634Ee673F34fc6350Cb7A05f72
  • Current Cold Ledger Balance: 1,019.08 ETH (~$1.66M USD retained in place)

The attacker has begun systematically siphoning out the vault inventory via two specialized outbound tracks:
