From ddf859f443a7fd883f36cc452127bc4dc566c31c Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: workprentice <257153108+workprentice@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Wed, 5 Aug 2026 14:17:04 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] pricing: clarify credits, per-resource rate, and worked example Addresses part of #20696. Surfaces the per-resource on-demand rate directly in the Team and Enterprise plan cards, links "additional usage billed on demand" to the Pricing FAQ where the rate is explained, expands the "What are Pulumi Credits?" answer to describe the shared-pool metering model across products, and adds a new FAQ item that works a resource count through to a monthly dollar figure. Does not restore the interactive pricing calculator (issue's remaining item), which is a front-end and product scoping effort outside a docs content change. --- content/pricing/_index.md | 13 ++++++++++--- 1 file changed, 10 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) diff --git a/content/pricing/_index.md b/content/pricing/_index.md index 64fece8e837c..45e279272f28 100644 --- a/content/pricing/_index.md +++ b/content/pricing/_index.md @@ -42,7 +42,7 @@ tiers: price: $40 price_label: /month base unit: "**Includes 40 Credits**" - note: Up to 500 resources, additional usage billed on demand + note: "Up to 500 resources included; additional usage billed at [$0.1825 per resource/month](/pricing/#faq-pricing)" cta: label: Start a free trial href: https://app.pulumi.com/signup?create-organization=1 @@ -63,7 +63,7 @@ tiers: price: $400 price_label: /month base unit: "**Includes 400 Credits**" - note: Up to 2,000 resources, additional usage billed on demand + note: "Up to 2,000 resources included; additional usage billed at [$0.365 per resource/month](/pricing/#faq-pricing)" cta: label: Start a free trial href: https://app.pulumi.com/signup?create-organization=1 @@ -689,7 +689,9 @@ faq: If you prefer to pay annually, you can [contact sales](/contact/?form=sales) to receive a discount for a committed amount of usage paid up-front. This is true of self-serve pay-as-you-go plans, although prepaid plans offer more considerable discounts. For billing purposes, a partial resource hour used is billed as a full hour and we count any resource that's declared in a Pulumi program. This includes [provider resources](/docs/concepts/resources) (e.g., an Amazon S3 bucket), [component resources](/docs/iac/concepts/components) which are groupings of resources (e.g., an Amazon EKS cluster), and [stacks](/docs/iac/concepts/stacks) which contain resources (e.g., dev, test, prod stacks). + - question: What would my monthly bill look like for a given number of IaC resources? + answer: | + As an example, a Team plan (which includes up to 500 resources for the $40 monthly base fee) managing 1,200 IaC resources for the full month would pay the $40 base plus 700 additional resources at $0.1825 per resource per month: $40 + (700 × $0.1825) = $167.75 for the month. + + The same shared-pool model applies across products. If that same Team plan also uses Pulumi ESC to manage secrets, workflow minutes for Deployments, and Neo for AI-assisted pull request reviews, each of those usages is metered in its own unit and converts to dollars against the same pool, since one Pulumi Credit is worth $1 USD. - question: What can I do with 500 IaC resources per month? answer: | The Team edition includes up to 500 IaC resources to get started with.
