Apology for incorrect submissions (#969, #970)

Hi — I owe you an apology. I submitted two resource recommendations (#969 and #970) via the GitHub CLI without reading the contributing guidelines first. I see now that the docs clearly state CLI submissions are not accepted, and that submitting during a cooldown extends the restriction.

That was careless on my part. I should have read the CONTRIBUTING.md before interacting with the repo at all.

The two resources I wanted to recommend are genuinely useful Claude Code tools that I built:

• claude-usage-tray — a system tray app for real-time Claude Code rate limit monitoring (cross-platform, on PyPI)
• bitcoin-mcp — a Bitcoin MCP server with 43 tools (also on PyPI)

If there is any way to have the permanent restriction reconsidered so I can resubmit properly through the web form, I would appreciate it. If not, I completely understand — lesson learned.

How the submissions happened:
I use https://docs.anthropic.com/en/docs/claude-code (Anthropic's CLI agent) as my primary development tool. I have a set of custom slash commands (skill files) for common workflows. When I decided to submit to your list, I was in a Claude Code session and used gh issue create / gh pr create via the CLI without thinking — it's just how I interact with GitHub for my own repos. I didn't read your CONTRIBUTING.md first, which is entirely on me.

How the projects were built:
Both projects were developed using Claude Code with me directing the architecture and reviewing every change:

• https://github.com/Bortlesboat/bitcoin-mcp — A Bitcoin MCP server (43 tools, 108 tests). I designed the architecture, Claude Code helped implement. It connects to Bitcoin Core or falls back to my hosted https://bitcoinsapi.com. The code is fully open source.
• https://github.com/Bortlesboat/claude-usage-monitor — A system tray rate limit monitor for Claude Code. Parses the local JSONL logs to show usage in real time. Also fully open source and on PyPI.

My Claude Code setup:
I have ~50 custom skill files (slash commands) in ~/.claude/commands/ for things like code review, deployment, session handoffs, and project management. My CLAUDE.md enforces workflow rules (plan before building, verify before marking done, etc.). I'm happy to share specific skill files if any would be useful for the awesome-claude-code list itself — that's actually more in the spirit of the project than the tools I originally submitted.

I don't have any automation that targets your repo specifically — the CLI submission was just my default habit for GitHub interactions, not a bot or script.

@Bortlesboat that comment was intended for any malicious or spam bots that may be managing your account. The reward mentioned for completing the task still holds.

Regarding you, I'm not "messing with you", I'm trying to understand what could possibly be the explanation for sending me a message like:

I mean, sometimes I read a situation incorrectly, but I guess I'm not able to fathom how a human could write a message that appears to be intended for a reader who is not familiar with Claude Code - to a maintainer of a repo that's about Claude Code (a.k.a. Anthropic's CLI agent, just so we're on the same page). (Also, this part is speculative, but it appears like the writer attempted to use GitHub Markdown link syntax but did not format it correctly.) OK, you are not a bot - you may notice there is some spam-like behavior going on rather frequently lately. So do you have any skills that would help the maintainer identify spam bots and/or the repositories that are linked to those accounts more easily? That would be much appreciated.

Finally, I don't post crypto stuff and there are already like 20 bots who submitted usage monitors in the past day.

Fair enough — the over-explanation was just me writing too fast, not a bot thing.
On the submissions: if usage monitors are a dime a dozen and not what you need, totally get it. I will say Bitcoin ≠ crypto though — bitcoin-mcp is node/Core tooling, not tokens or DeFi. But if it's still not a fit, no worries, I'll back off.

The spam bot problem sounds like a pain. I could build a skill that flags suspicious PRs — account age, repo quality, templated descriptions, submission patterns. Want me to take a crack at it?

Thank you - for the record, I cannot manage the repository on the basis of any suspicious signals, that's why I have strict submission rules backed by strict penalties, as you're already aware. However, if you'd like to share the text of, or a link to a GitHub repo/gist of, a Claude Code skill that could be used for defensive purposes, that would be something I would consider sharing as an awesome resource.
