New feature, improvement proposal

PMD supports the industry standard sarif format, yet there seems to be no such output option from the maven pmd plugin https://docs.pmd-code.org/latest/pmd_userdocs_report_formats.html.

Add that output option please.

@janderssonse Until a direct support for SARIF is added, you might just configure the full class name. See https://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-pmd-plugin/pmd-mojo.html#format

Can you try, whether the following works in your pom.xml?

    <format>net.sourceforge.pmd.renderers.SarifRenderer</format>
