Hi there. I have been trying to download Fiji or Image J onto my personal macbook. I follow the steps the Fiji or ImageJ webpage tells me.

First I click on the "ImageJ bundled with Java 8" imbedded link under Mac OS X. I wait for it to download and once that is done I open it in my downloads.

It then displays this error message:

I tried this for both Fiji and ImageJ, is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks for your help!

One thing is you should move the application into your Applications folder. (copy and paste)

To open ImageJ on macOS when you see this security warning, you can use either of the following two quick methods:

Method 1: The Finder Right-Click Bypass (easiest)
Close the error dialog box.
Open Finder and navigate to your Application folder (or wherever you placed ImageJ 3.app).
Right-click (or hold the Control key and click) on the ImageJ 3 icon.
Select Open from the context menu.
A different warning window will appear with an Open button. Click Open to run the app.
Note: You will only need to do this once. macOS will remember your preference and allow you to open the app normally in the future.

Method 2: System Settings
Keep the error dialog open or click Cancel.
Open your Mac's System Settings (or System Preferences).
Go to Privacy & Security in the left sidebar.
Scroll down to the Security section.
You should see a message saying: "ImageJ 3" was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer.
Click Open Anyway and enter your Mac's administrator password when prompted.
