Description
It would be great if AVPro supported selecting individual video and audio tracks from RTSP streams that contain multiple media tracks.
Modern live production workflows are beginning to use multi-track RTSP as a way to carry multiple synchronized feeds over a single connection. For example, a single RTSP stream might contain:
Video 0 – Main program
Video 1 – Mobile feed, secondary program, or hologram/control data
Video 2 – Lower bitrate or operator feed
Audio 0 – Main program mix
Audio 1 – Effects, commentary, or alternate audio
One particularly interesting use case comes from the VRChat community. Large productions such as Stage Flight and Furality have developed some incredibly creative streaming systems. Beyond traditional video, some productions use additional video layers to drive holograms, synchronized visual effects, and even drone or world-control systems. These workflows already exist. They just require multiple independent RTSP streams because there isn't a way to select tracks from a single multi-track stream.
If AVPro could expose video and audio track selection for RTSP, applications could publish one synchronized stream containing multiple feeds and simply choose the tracks they want to render. That would reduce infrastructure complexity, reduce the number of published streams, and open the door to even more creative live production workflows.
Is multi-track RTSP selection currently supported internally, or would this be something worth considering for a future release?
