Add an Auto mode that selects only among codecs supported end to end by the host encoder and Portal WebCodecs implementation. Selection must prioritize measured encode and decode latency before compression ratio, account for hardware support and network conditions, and retain H.264 as the known-safe first target. Version and test codec negotiation and fallback.
