We are to make the target domain to be "Observation" from Measurement "Measurement"
And if the response is marked with Yes ( i.e. Answer = "Yes" ) then
we should dual map it to the Device_exposure domain, similar to what we did with self-reported disease diagnosis in condition.

OMOP CDM defines Device_Exposure as: "a foreign physical object or instrument used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes" — retinal imaging devices (OCT scanners, fundus cameras, FLIO) fit this definition exactly

  • A "Yes" answer means the device was physically used on the patient during that visit — that is precisely what Device_Exposure is designed to capture
  • It is more semantically precise and makes device use queryable via the standard Device_Exposure table without needing to join on value_as_concept_id = Yes
